Distractions, Distractions

Distractions abound. Current events are particularly distracting. The best thing to do is to simply ignore them.

The goal of news networks is to sell ads. They need people glued to their TVs and phones. Newspapers aren't dying in the digital age; while their print versions may not be distributed as often and as widely as they used to be, phones are enabling their mission to be carried out with far greater success than ever before. They are trying to distract you, and they are succeeding.

While it's good to be informed, ask yourself why they are trying so desperately to keep your attention on certain topics, often exaggerating their impact or importance for the purpose of selling ads. To defeat their grip on your mind, simply acknowledge the information and move on. Don't dwell on it or continuously search for more information.

Acknowledge, then move on. Research more if you find the news really relevant or you feel like you are truly impacted by it, but remember, their goal is to make you feel like everything is really relevant and that you are impacted by it. Don't get sucked into problems that aren't yours.

Don't let yourself become distracted. Don't pay attention to rumors. Don't give into gossip. Don't veer off the path of your mission.
