Make the Most Opportunities
Gamers know how to make the most opportunities. It's an instinctive part of playing any game. In sports, defenders are trained to swat at the ball with every tackle; most of the time it does nothing, but every once in a while it happens to result in a fumble.
Gamers can get caught up in the games so much that they forget about real life. Gamification is one proposed solution to that problem, but maybe it won't work. In the end, though, gamers have all the potential they need - they just need to start playing the game with the same level of dedication they have when playing games.
The best way to do this is to approach life in a way that creates the most opportunities. To play the game the right way, you need to understand the playable character's abilities and moveset completely. This requires experimentation. Understanding the character's movements and powers creates more opportunities down the line, even if the benefits aren't immediately available.
There's more to it than just understanding oneself, but I'll leave it there for now. The point is that the best approach to life is to create the most opportunities.
