Meanwhile, my 16-inch 2019 work MacBook lasted a full 45 minutes before reaching 45% charge yesterday when I used it at the office. When it's not plugged in, the battery lasts about 1 hour before returning to its grave. To put that into perspective, that's less time than Cinderella had.

I don't know why the MacBooks of 2014 perform considerably and undeniably better than their supposedly superior successors made 5 years later, but it's not a good sign. I haven't even mentioned my 2018 MacBook, which didn't even last 3 years before spontaneously suffering catastrophic internal hardware damage that made rendering certain colors impossible. Never mind that the speakers stopped working a year earlier. Oh - and several keys on the keyboard had been swapped out by that point, too, since the new-and-improved flat keys had a habit of deciding not to work any longer.

My 2014 model, on the other hand, is much more robust. Not only has it never suffered a hardware failure due to gimmicky design, it has survived water being spilled on it and tiny beads becoming trapped in its fan. In comparison to the "newer and more better" models, the 2014 MacBook is an absolute tank. I'm not even sure the 2019 MacBook could withstand the presence of a lit candle.

I'm more than just a little disappointed in Apple for their decline and fall from laptop superiority. When I got my 13-inch MacBook, I was so impressed in its superior quality and sleek design that I was absolutely certain I would be buying MacBooks from that day forward. However, just a few short years later, the Apple has proven to have fallen very far from the tree, indeed. The new MacBooks seem like they are falling apart faster than the yearly updates, and the yearly OS updates have even begun to suffer.

I'm not sure what happened to Apple's outstanding engineering, but it's sad to see it withering away in real time. I do hope to see Apple once again make superior laptops, but for now, I'm going to have to stick to the absolutely brilliant 2014 model.
