As long as it is spread out enough, these events don't bother me. I wouldn't want it to be the norm, because I have plenty of other projects to use my weekend time on. Taking care of something major every once in a while might even be a good thing.

I don't think working weekends is something to brag about, though; I consider it something to be slightly ashamed about. There was an old Dilbert cartoon where someone bragged about how many hours of overtime they put in at work, hoping to show off his commitment to the company. The other character quickly rebuked him, quipping "It takes you 60 hours to do your job each week? You must be terrible".
